Time magazine has released its annual list of 100 most influential people, and in addition to world leaders, scientists, and artists, a few members of the fashion industry also made the cut.
American sportswear designer Michael Kors – whose company quadrupled profits in the past year — is included in the “Titan” category. The former Project Runway judge is profiled by fellow designer Zac Posen, who inherited Kors’ seat on the fashion reality competition this season.
“When I started designing fashion in high school, around 1996, Michael Kors was the epitome of the new look of American sportswear: elegant luxury, easy glamour and effortless chic. His clothes merged the worlds of fashion and accessibility, which isn’t easy — there was a sense of cleanliness in his designs,” Posen writes. “Nearly two decades later, Michael is poised to become fashion’s next billionaire.
