'Da Vinci’s Demons': Renaissance fashion gets a rock & roll update -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Da Vinci’s Demons may be a period drama, but costume designer Annie Symons invokes artistic license when it comes to dressing the characters for the Starz series, set in Renaissance Italy.

Symons adds a ”rock and roll” edge to Leonardo’s (Tom Riley) look, and takes inspiration from contemporary fashion designers to create costumes for female characters like Lucrezia (Laura Haddock), Vanessa (Hera Hilmar), and Clarice (Lara Pulver). The designer also uses color to help establish allegiances among families and distinguish friends from foes.

Watch Symons, series creator and executive producer David S. Goyer, and the cast give their costume commentary in the video below.  READ FULL STORY »

Beyonce debuts new single, wears a skimpy bikini in H&M commercial

Beyoncé is heating things up in a new television commercial for her H&M summer campaign.

The spot is the singer’s latest ad-slash-music-video. After debut of “Mirrors” via a Pepsi commercial earlier this month, the new H&M ad — titled “Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter for H&M” — features a blond Beyoncé singing the new track ”Standing on the Sun.” Among the style highlights: B gets sandy on the beach in a skimpy two-piece suit, rolls around in the surf wearing a skin-tight body con dress, and goes tribal in an embellished LBD.

“I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements – fire, water, earth and wind,” Beyoncé said in a statement released by H&M. “It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial.”

With his new video and print campaign today, Christian Siriano shows off the inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2013 collection: ballet movement.

Project Runway‘s season 4 champ enlisted his beau Brad Walsh to shoot the campaign film that features his whimsical pastel designs draped over dancers Katerina Eng, Isabelle Seiler, and Carolyn Lippert of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre. “I wanted the video to portray the dancers as if each were dreaming about the costumes they’d be wearing in a performance,” Siriano said in a statement. “I wanted this collection to feel as light, soft, and romantic as the dancers on the stage and in the painting, but modern enough to be wearable by today’s elegant woman.” READ FULL STORY »

Steven Spielberg's daughter stars in Nicole Richie's first fashion ad campaign -- VIDEO

Sasha-Spielberg

She made her big screen debut at the tender age of 9, but 22-year-old actress Sasha Spielberg (yes, that Spielberg) makes her fashion film debut in the Spring 2013 ad campaign for two labels, both helmed by a designer with an equally recognizable last name.

Spielberg stars in “Memory Lane,” the campaign video for Nicole Richie’s Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 clothing lines directed by fashion photographer Hugh Lippe.

Richie knew she’d met her latest muse after seeing Spielberg perform with her band, Wardell, in Los Angeles. “When I first met Sasha, I knew immediately she would be perfect for the video,” the Fashion Star judge said in a statement. “Something about the way she carries herself… Sasha truly embodies the Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 girl, someone who is confident and fun, yet still a bit reserved and elegant.”

In addition to modeling an array of boho chic ensembles from Richie’s latest collections, Spielberg provided the vocal talents for the video campaign. Click on to watch.  READ FULL STORY »

See the designer dress collection inspired by 'Oz the Great and Powerful' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Oz-the-Great-and-Powerful_510x297.jpg

Designer Sue Wong has created a limited-edition collection of evening dresses inspired by Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful (in theaters March 8).

Wong says her Oz designs are based on a number of the movie’s themes, including the battle between good and evil — played out by witches Theodora (Mila Kunis), Glinda (Michelle Williams), and Evanora (Rachel Weisz) — the art deco look of Emerald City, and Dust Bowl-era Kansas. The resulting collection is a mix of femme fatale dresses, full-glamour gowns and whimsical frocks, many embellished with beading, embroidery and appliques.

In 2010, Wong, who has dressed the likes of Taylor Swift, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel, created a line of separates inspired by the film Eat Pray Love.

Watch the video below for a first look at the Oz The Great and Powerful collection.  READ FULL STORY »

'Pretty Little Liars' star Ashley Benson signs on as face of designer-inspired dress line -- VIDEO

Ashley-Benson-for-Faviana.jpg

Ashley Benson has just been named the new face of Faviana, a line of red carpet-inspired eveningwear.

In her first assignment for the fashion label, Benson modeled 17 dress styles from the spring collection, including everything from a mango chiffon prom dress with sweetheart neckline to a body-hugging foil jersey number inspired by the Prabal Gurung gown that Jennifer Lawrence wore to the Hollywood premiere of The Hunger Games.

Some of the looks are a little risqué, but the 23 year-old Benson, who currently stars in ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars (returning tonight!), seems ready to take on more grown-up roles.

How many models does it take to tell a decent joke? Find out in this Rodarte casting call video

Besides maybe Tyra Banks, models aren’t exactly known for their senses of humor — and while Tyra makes us laugh, she’s not always doing it intentionally. (“Women at work! Girls in school!“)

But a rainbow coalition of models reading a series of cheesy, Popsicle stick-style jokes, sporting a bevy of accents and varying degrees of understanding what, precisely, they’re saying? Now that‘s funny. See for yourself by watching the following video, which was assembled from footage shot at Rodarte’s spring/summer 2013 Fashion Week casting call:
