Sarah Jessica Parker discusses her shoe line...which includes 'The Carrie'

Sarah Jessica Parker may just go to a shoe store today and wistfully exclaim, “Hello, Loverrrrr!” at a pair of strappy stilettos. Only this time, they’ll be her own creation.

The once and future Carrie Bradshaw’s inevitable shoe line, SJP, hits Nordstrom this week. The shoes are designed with George Malkemus, CEO of Manolo Blahnik, and run in the $300 range.

The actress spoke with the Associated Press about the project and explained why now — 10 years after the show ended its original HBO run — was the right time to get into the shoe business. “I was very kindly being offered a lot of opportunities in the shoe category and I kept rejecting them,” Parker explained. “And I couldn’t figure out why. … And I was sitting with some women friends of mine and they said to me, ‘What is it?’ And I said, ‘Well, I know it’s not going to be the shoe that I want it to be.’ And I said that really my dream partner is George Malkemus. And they said, ‘Have you asked him?'” READ FULL STORY

Happy birthday to Vera Wang, celebrity wedding whisperer

Fashion maven and former figure skater Vera Wang turns 64 today. Her career designing couture skating costumes, working at Vogue and designing a full range of clothing both designer and off the rack has been illustrious and celebrated. But in particular, when you think of wedding dresses, you think Vera Wang.

Stars like Chelsea Clinton, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner, Sharon Stone, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Hilary Duff, Kate Hudson, Khloe Kardashian and Kim Kardashian have all looked to Vera to design their one-of-a-kind dresses to celebrate their special days.

Sarah Jessica Parker is launching her own fashion label (and there's a Manolo Blahnik connection)

Talk about perfect timing. Yesterday, on what was the 15th anniversary of the premiere of Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker announced that she’s got a fashion line in the works.

“I really hope people like it. We’ll see,” Parker told Footwear News of her SJP label, which will hit the shelves at Nordstrom early next year.

For her inaugural collection, Parker focused on footwear, no surprise considering that as the well-heeled Carrie Bradshaw she helped turn Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin into household names. “Because I got to play that role, I wore a lot of shoes, and by default I learned an enormous amount,” the actress told Vogue. “It’s hard to – no pun intended – walk away from that.” Parker’s business partner is George Malkemus, who is the CEO of Manolo Blahnik.

The Spring 2014 line will include 35 to 40 styles of flats and high heels priced between $200 and $300. “I have to know that we’re producing shoes I’m going to wear,” Parker told FN. “I’m not going to try and sell someone shoes that aren’t going to be good enough for me to wear myself.” But wait, didn’t Parker say she’d sworn off heels?

Sarah Jessica Parker on 'The Carrie Diaries': 'It's odd'

Sarah Jessica Parker originated the role of Carrie Bradshaw on HBO’s Sex and the City, but she’s not exactly a fan of the CW’s Sex prequel, The Carrie Diaries.

In a new interview with luxury shopping site Net-A-Porter.com’s online magazine The Edit, Parker said that while Diaries star AnnaSophia Robb — who plays the young Carrie — is “lovely,” she’s “not sure” how she feels about the series.

“You know, I think it’s one of those tests of your generosity,” Parker said. “[AnnaSophia] is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about, but it’s… odd.”

The 47-year-old actress, who wears pieces from designers like Victoria Beckham and Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane in photos that accompany the interview, also noted that, while she believes the candid conversations between the original Carrie and company “encouraged women to share more candidly,” she’s paying a price for playing the well-heeled character. 'Carrie Diaries' costume designer Eric Daman on re-styling Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie Bradshaw may be back on TV, but don’t expect to see her running around in Manolos anytime soon.

“Everyone’s going to be watching and hoping she’s in Manolos in high school, but I think they’re going to be pleasantly surprised that she’s in Keds and it makes sense [because] they’re leopard Keds,” says Eric Daman, costume designer for The Carrie Diaries, the 80s prequel to Sex and the City that premièred last night.

“[I looked at] how [SATC’s Carrie] would mix things up and play around with style and push the envelope a little bit,” says Daman, who worked on SATC under legendary costume designer Patricia Field and later helmed the costume department for Gossip Girl. “I wanted to keep that kind of linear with the younger Carrie, but of course making it more teen appropriate.”

Read on to get the scoop on Carrie’s most notable looks from last night’s episode.
