Rooney Mara, David Fincher team up for Calvin Klein perfume ad -- VIDEO

Rooney Mara’s commercial for Calvin Klein’s new fragrance Downtown debuted today. The black-and-white short film was shot by David Fincher, who previously directed Mara in The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network.

Set to “Runaway” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the short “depicts authentic individuality through a cinematic portrayal of a confident, urban woman,” according to a press release from Calvin Klein. It’s “the story of a young woman living in her own world, breaking away from the ‘expected.’”

Such bombastic words — and the fact that it’s directed by Fincher —  would lead one to believe this is a Very Serious Cannes Film Festival Submission and not a fragrance ad. But this is how Calvin Klein pushes perfume. Click on to watch. READ FULL STORY

Rooney Mara named the face of Calvin Klein's new fragrance

Rooney Mara has landed her first major beauty campaign.

The actress has been named the face of Calvin Klein’s new fragrance Downtown. Mara celebrated the announcement last night in Cannes, where she was honored at Calvin Klein and the Independent Filmmaker Project’s women in film event.

Mara will reunite with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher to film a television ad for the fragrance that will air this summer. According to a press release from Calvin Klein, the black and white short film tells the “story of a young woman living in her own world, breaking away from the expected. Set in New York City, the short film portrays the multi-faceted life of a globally recognizable actress who always remains true to herself.”

Fashion Face-Off: Kate Mara vs. Rooney Mara -- POLL

Looks like Kate and Rooney Mara swapped fashion personalities before last night’s premiere of Side Effects in New York City.

Kate took a break from her trademark girly style to wear a fit-and-flare LBD and edgy accessories, while the oft goth-inspired Rooney chose a romantic Alexander McQueen passementerie trimmed ivory cape dress. Both sisters wore heels by Nicholas Kirkwood.

Kate’s dramatic dress stood in sharp contrast to Rooney’s ultra-feminine frock, presenting us with the perfect opportunity for a sister vs. sister Fashion Face-Off poll.

Which Mara sister was best dressed? Cast your vote in the poll below.  READ FULL STORY
