HSN's 'Oz The Great and Powerful' collection has arrived

First a line of nail polish, then designer dresses, now comes an entire collection of clothing, beauty products, accessories, and home decor items inspired by the wonderful world of Oz.

Are stars playing it too safe on the red carpet because they're afraid of fashion critics?

In last week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly (click here to buy the issue), Lynette Rice looked at the blend of style commentary and shtick — the latter mostly provided by Joan Rivers — on E!’s Fashion Police, which has recently enjoyed an awards season ratings boost. Co-host Giuliana Rancic claimed that the show is even influencing red carpet trends, with some celebrities admitting that, “when they are working with their stylists, they have Fashion Police in the backs of their minds.”

Could a fear of winding up on the worst dressed list explain why this year’s awards season style seemed so, for lack of a better word, safe?

At the L.A. premiere of Oz The Great and Powerful earlier this month, we asked Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz if they feel more pressure to look put-together, and whether they think celebrities are judged too harshly for what they wear. Read on to see what they said.

'Oz the Great and Powerful' Fashion Face-Off: Mila Kunis vs. Michelle Williams vs. Rachel Weisz

Last night Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz, who all play witches in Oz the Great and Powerful, followed the yellow brick road (carpet) to the Hollywood premiere of the movie at the El Capitan Theatre.

Kunis chose a sweet lace embroidered dress by Dolce & Gabbana, which she paired with silver Christian Louboutin peep-toes, and added a little edge to her look with a dark nail polish shade and dramatic African ruby and diamond drop earrings by Sutra.

Williams crystal embellished Prada dress looked innocent too… until she turned to reveal a waist-high side split that offered a peek at her black panties. Williams completed her ensemble with Prada t-strap sandals and a Kate Young for Target clutch.

Weisz oped for a bold color, wearing a gown from Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2013 collection (hiding underneath the hem of her garment was a pair of Jimmy Choos). She kept her accessories — a subtle Tiffany & Co. bracelet and Lanvin box clutch — makeup, and slicked back hairstyle simple.
