Time magazine has released its annual list of 100 most influential people, and in addition to world leaders, scientists, and artists, a few members of the fashion industry also made the cut.

American sportswear designer Michael Kors – whose company quadrupled profits in the past year — is included in the “Titan” category. The former Project Runway judge is profiled by fellow designer Zac Posen, who inherited Kors’ seat on the fashion reality competition this season.

“When I started designing fashion in high school, around 1996, Michael Kors was the epitome of the new look of American sportswear: elegant luxury, easy glamour and effortless chic. His clothes merged the worlds of fashion and accessibility, which isn’t easy — there was a sense of cleanliness in his designs,” Posen writes. “Nearly two decades later, Michael is poised to become fashion’s next billionaire. It takes a great deal of resilience and staying power to last for decades, and it’s a testament to Michael’s very clear vision.”  READ FULL STORY »

KARA-SAUN.jpg

The hands behind the seams of the gravity-defying swimwear on ABC’s new celebrity diving show Splash? They belong to none other than Project Runway season one runner-up Kara Saun. And Splash isn’t her first TV credit – in fact, Saun began her career as a costume designer before Runway was even a twinkle in Heidi Klum’s eye.

EW caught up with Saun to talk about how she got her start as a costume designer, how she helps the Splash contestants swimsuit-up, and whether she’s been watching Project Runway. READ FULL STORY »

'Project Runway' season 11 sneak peek and cast reveal -- EXCLUSIVE

Move over, “I’m not here to make friends.” “I’m not a team player” and its various incarnations could be the new most frequently uttered phrase on reality TV, especially after the new season of Project Runway (premiering Jan. 24). In season 11, every challenge will be a team challenge, much to the designers’ displeasure — the individualistic and often fiery contestants of seasons past have always dreaded team challenges.

But Runway mentor Tim Gunn assures EW that we’re not in for another dreary season full of cranky designers. “Coming out of season 10, which Heidi [Klum] and I refer to as the ‘season of the rain clouds,’ season 11 became sunny again,” he says. He credits the revitalization to the contestants’ genuine desire to win and advance their careers, which he believes was lacking last season. If the below preview is any indication, we’re in for a passionate season, full of drama, great looks, snark from new judge Zac Posen, and of course, fashion disasters. Also see below for more info on the cast that has Tim so excited. READ FULL STORY »
