In honor of New York Fashion Week, EW asked designers to name the movies, TV, music, art and books that served as pop culture inspirations for their collections.
First up is Tadashi Shoji, whose red carpet clients include Florence Welch, Lily Rabe, Christina Hendricks, and The Help star Octavia Spencer, who chose gowns by the designer – including the hand-beaded, ivory silk tulle gown she was wearing when she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress – for most of her 2012 awards season red carpet appearances.
For his Fall 2013 collection, which will hit the runway at Lincoln Center tomorrow afternoon, Shoji says he was inspired by one of this year’s Oscar nominees. His movie muse? READ FULL STORY »
