Miley Cyrus poses naked for the cover of W magazine

You’d think that posing for the cover of a fashion magazine would mean putting on designer clothes. Not if you’re Miley Cyrus.

On the March issue of W, the platinum blond pop star is shown lying in repose, with bangles stacked up her arms, rings on almost every finger, and a pillow covering her naughty bits. The title of the cover story — “No Apologies: Miley Cyrus Laid Bare.”

“We never were inside, and we never wore shoes,” Cyrus tells writer Ronan Farrow of growing up on a farm in Franklin, Tennessee. “I think it’s why I like wearing no clothes so much and I’m always naked.”

Guess that explains why, although she has an affinity for over-sized teddy bear backpacks, foam fingers, and pantsless looks, Cyrus’ favorite outfit is her birthday suit.

'Miley Cyrus Unplugged': We rustle up the fashion details

Instead of stripping down for her MTV Unplugged  special, Miley Cyrus sequined up, going back to her Nashville roots and tipping her bedazzled hat to country music legend Dolly Parton.

Joined by backup singers in matching outfits, material cowgirl Madonna, and a guy — or two? — in a horse costume, Miley performed wearing more clothes than usual.

In an Instagram tease for the show, Cyrus’ stylist Simone Harouche posted a picture of a pasties-wearing Cyrus with the hashtag #bobmackiecowgirl, giving us a taste of the sparkly looks we’d see. (It was previously reported that, in addition to designs by Marc Jacobs, Roberto Cavalli and Jeremy Scott, the singer will wear pieces from the archives of Bob Mackie on her upcoming Bangerz tour. Mackie is perhaps best known as the man who designed the costumes for The Carol Burnett Show, wardrobed Barbra Streisand in Funny Lady, and dressed Cher in a Vegas showgirl-inspired ensemble for the Oscars.)

Miley Cyrus to wear Roberto Cavalli, Marc Jacobs, Bob Mackie on 'Bangerz' tour

Miley Cyrus enjoys finding new ways to get naked, so it’s hardly surprising that the costumes for her upcoming Bangerz tour are long on sex appeal and short on fabric.

Earlier today Italian designer Roberto Cavalli released sketches of six looks created for the 21 year-old singer to wear on stage. The most provocative ensemble is a stretch silk tulle Swarovski crystal spattered jumpsuit (above) that creates a “nude effect on the body.” Other items include a black zebra-pattern jumpsuit, an overwashed denim bra embroidered with studs and crystals, and a python-print jacket with matching short shorts.

In addition to the Cavalli costumes, Cyrus will wear outfits by designers Marc JacobsThe Blonds, and Jeremy Scott — as well as pieces from the archives of Cher’s go-to designer Bob Mackie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, each designer was assigned a specific section of the Bangerz show. “Clothes for me, or lack thereof, say a lot,” Cyrus recently joked.

Miley Cyrus is the face of designer Marc Jacobs' spring line

Miley Cyrus has signed on to be the face of designer Marc Jacobs’ eponymous fashion line.

On Wednesday, Jacobs confirmed via Twitter that Cyrus stars in his spring ad campaign. “Secret’s out, @MileyCyrus stars in the MJ SS14 Campaign shot by David Sims!” the designer tweeted.

Cyrus and Jacobs have known each other for years. In 2013, the pop singer wore some memorable looks by the designer — including a black mesh gown she wore to the annual Met gala last May — and posed naked for a charity T-shirt that was part of Jacobs’ “Protect the Skin You’re In” campaign. She was even on hand — and fully clothed — to present him with the Superstar Award at the FGI Awards in New York City.

In an interview with Hunger TV last October, Cyrus credited Jacobs with introducing her to the world of fashion when she was a young Disney star. “He kind of brought me into fashion like when I was 16, that was when I started being around him and learning from him,” she explained. “He kind of let me inspire some of his pieces.”

A naked billboard, a celebrity in blackface, and more of 2013's biggest fashion faux pas

The fashion world had plenty of high moments this year, but let’s face it, it’s more fun to reminisce about the lowest low moments.

Luckily, there were plenty of fashion faux pas committed in 2013.

From Elle magazine’s Melissa McCarthy cover-up to the Jay-Z and Barneys backlash, and Julianne Hough’s regrettable Halloween costume, read on to see the style headlines that got people talking… and not in a good way.

Miley Cyrus gets (and stays) dressed up to honor designer Marc Jacobs

The dress Miley Cyrus wore to last night’s Fashion Group International Awards in New York City was shocking, but not for the reason you’d think.

Just when we’d (almost) gotten used to seeing Cyrus make public appearance in various states of undress — wearing the top half of a suit to the 2012 Billboard Awards, hot pants for a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and a latex bikini and foam finger at this year’s VMAs — the pop star showed up to the annual FGI Awards fully clothed.

On hand to present Marc Jacobs — she posed naked for the designer’s charity T-shirt earlier this year — with the Superstar Award, Cyrus wore a full-length dress that concealed all of her lady parts. Sure, it was backless, but it was still the most covered-up we’ve seen her since she killed off Hannah Montana. Cyrus paired the sequined Marc Jacobs sheath with Saint Laurent heels and subtle jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz. The only “Look at me!” element of her ensemble? Fire engine red nail polish.

Miley Cyrus finds a new way to get naked in rapper Future's latest music video

It’s no secret that Miley Cyrus loves to get naked, but the pop singer finds a new way to show off her Pilates-toned body in the music video for rapper Future’s single “Real and True.”

Photos from the new video show Cyrus — wearing nothing but a head-to-toe coat of body paint — playing the role of what appears to be an alien life form. Future, whose nickname is Astronaut Kid, is fully clothed in what looks like a space suit.

Did Miley Cyrus get a hair makeover?

Breaking hair news: Miley Cyrus may have gone brunette during her trip to Paris.

A video posted to YouTube yesterday shows the 20-year-old Cyrus sporting what appears to be a much darker hair color — a toned down look compared to the bottle blonde she’s recently been rocking — as she stops to greet waiting fans in the City of Light. Though it’s unclear when the video was shot, the clip is titled  “Miley Cyrus en Paris (Cabello marrón),” which translates to “Miley Cyrus in Paris (brown hair).”
