Coco Rocha is the face of Banana Republic's latest 'Mad Men' collection

Coco-Rocha.jpg

The Face mentor Coco Rocha went back to her day job to front the campaign for Banana Republic’s limited edition Mad Men collection which hit Banana Republic stores yesterday.

When the model was asked to be a part of the campaign, she jumped at the chance. “I’m obsessed with shows like Mad Men because of the fashion,” Rocha, told EW. “I probably watch it because of the clothes, to see what everyone’s wearing, so I was excited to see what they’d do.”

Once again, the brand called on the show’s Emmy-winning costume designer, Janie Bryant, to help produce the collection — the third inspired by the AMC drama, which returns for a sixth season April 7th — and although there have been some complaints that Rocha is much thinner than Mad Men‘s curvaceous female characters, the clothes are definitely representative of the 1960′s mod style.

Click on to see more shots from Coco’s Banana Republic campaign and find out what she told EW about teaching her craft to contestants on The Face. READ FULL STORY »

New Year's Eve style inspired by 'Mad Men'

nye-look-mad-men

Still searching for a New Year’s Eve outfit? PopStyle is here to help! From a black tie affair to a night on the couch, TV costume designers show you how to dress for any occasion.

All eyes were on Megan Draper (Jessica Paré) when she serenaded her husband with “Zou Bisou Bisou.” Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant helped create the memorable moment when she dressed the character in a sultry cocktail dress.

“It was really the first time the audience has seen a mini on Mad Men, so it was important for the scene to be all about her,” Bryant told EW of Megan’s vintage dress, which she borrowed from Hollywood’s Costume Rentals Corporation. “I made the bell shape [sleeves] bigger so they would be more dramatic for dancing.”

Want to be the center of attention this New Year’s Eve? Read on to get Bryant’s tips for recreating Megan Draper’s ultra-sexy look.  READ FULL STORY »

Banana Republic announces third 'Mad Men' clothing collection

Looking to add a little “Zou Bisou Bisou” to your wardrobe?

AMC has re-teamed with Banana Republic for a third Mad Men-inspired clothing collection, reports Women’s Wear Daily. Following the success of previous lines released in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012, series costume designer Janie Bryant has helped create a new capsule collection that’s also a sign of the times portrayed in the fifth season of the series, with a particular focus on the new Mrs. Draper. “Our inspiration was Megan, Don’s wife,” Bryant tells WWD. “Megan represents the young and modern.”

Though the 50-piece collection of women’s and men’s apparel and accessories draws on the mod vibe of the late ’60s, it isn’t totally retro. “It’s certainly not costumes,” Banana Republic creative director Simon Kneen says of the aesthetic, which includes plenty of plaids, prints and patterns, as well as swinging ’60s staples like shift dresses, sport coats and skinny ties. “It’s real clothes for today.”

Banana Republic’s latest Mad Men collection is set to arrive in stores March 1.
