Is Jennifer Lopez's 2000 Grammys dress still shocking? -- POLL

Back in 2000 when she was known as JLo, Jennifer Lopez accompanied then-boyfriend Puff Daddy to the Grammys wearing a very revealing sheer chiffon Versace gown. The couple split up soon after, but the image of Lopez in that dress lives on.

It’s certainly the most memorable gown in Grammys history — it even has its own Wikipedia page — but if Lopez wore the dress that put her on the fashion map to this Sunday’s ceremony, would it be considered shocking by today’s red carpet standards?

In the last year alone, we’ve seen plenty of dresses that make JLo’s Versace number look positively demure by comparison. In April 2013, Gwyneth Paltrow not only showed up to the premiere of Iron Man 3 in a NSFW gown by Antonio Berardi, she shared a TMI story about having to shave her bikini line minutes before hitting the red carpet. Last November, actress Jaimie Alexander stole Thor’s thunder when she walked the red carpet at the premiere of the action flick wearing an Azzaro Couture gown that barely concealed her naughty bits. Just days later in London, British model Abbey Clancy took side boob to a whole new level in a Julien Macdonald gown at the appropriately named Fashion for the Brave benefit.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the dress — more accurately described as a scrap of mesh fabric and a thong — that Rose McGowan wore to the MTV VMAs in 1998, almost two years before JLo taped on her Grammys dress. But McGowan’s display was not so much a fashion moment as it was a case of temporary insanity. Same goes for Lady Gaga’s 2011 Grammys egg ensemble.

If Jennifer Lopez wore that infamous Versace dress today, would it still be as shocking as it was the first time? Cast your vote in the poll below. READ FULL STORY

Design duo The Blonds on JLo's wardrobe controversy, designing for the stars, and more

The Blonds, Phillipe and David (right), are famous for their high-glam outfits, having designed for Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Barbie, and many, many others. But they still didn’t expect a dust-up earlier this week when longtime client Jennifer Lopez performed on Britain’s Got Talent in one of their feathered bodysuits, inspiring calls that she was inappropriately dressed for a family program. “I mean, she wears stockings, and she’s got long sleeves on and a turtleneck for that performance, so it just seems sort of strange,” David says. Nevertheless, “There’s a lot of conservative [clothing] out there that they have to choose from, and I really don’t think that’s the goal when doing a performance.”

We checked-in with David on the heels of the Lopez controversy to get his thoughts, hear about the long-list of celebrity collaborations, and a tease about what’s next.

'Britain's Got Talent': Jennifer Lopez sparks controversy with racy performance outfit

Hello JLo!

Last night, Jennifer Lopez performed her new single “Live It Up” on Britain’s Got Talent. Though judge Simon Cowell called the number “world class,” some viewers disagreed: Lopez’s performance incited a flurry of angry tweets as well as a string of calls to British regulator Ofcom complaining that her outfit was inappropriate for a family program.

Did Lopez show too much of her bottom half or was this a below-the-belt attack? Click on to see more photos and a video clip of Lopez’s sexy song and dance. READ FULL STORY

Met Gala: Who wore the sexiest dress? -- POLL

The 2013 Met Gala: Who's taking whom (and what will everyone wear?)

At Monday night’s Met Gala, guests are expected to wear ensembles that evoke the theme of this year’s Met Costume Institute exhibition — PUNK: Chaos to Couture.

Earlier this week, Dukes of Melrose star Cameron Silver told the New York Times that “no one has a clue” what to wear to the punk-themed ball. “We keep running into the same problem, which is that rich women don’t want to look punk, or grunge,” Silver, who owns the Decades vintage and consignment boutique in L.A. said of the difficulty he’s had outfitting his wealthy clientele for the big night. “Not that many women want to look like Nancy Spungen.”

For celebrities, finding the perfect punk-inspired ensemble starts with a designer fairy godmother — or godfather, as the case may be.

Will someone wear the Versace safety-pin dress made famous by Elizabeth Hurley and, later, Lady Gaga? Will Gwyneth Paltrow send her team out to find a razor so she can shave her… head and show up with a mohawk? Will Elizabeth Banks come as Effie Trinket? Will Kanye West bring Kim Kardashian? (That last question has nothing to do with fashion, but it had to be asked.)

A list of the designers and their celebrity dates posted yesterday by The Hollywood Reporter may offer some clues. Click on to see who will be escorting — and therefore probably dressing — stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Nicki Minaj, Psy, Jennifer Lopez, and more stars to the Oscars of Fashion.  READ FULL STORY

The Week in Red Carpet Fashion: YOU grade the looks -- POLL

Judging from the response to last week’s poll, there are quite a few fashion critics in the PopStyle audience, so we’re going to make YOU Grade the Looks a weekly feature.
