Flashback! Jennifer Lawrence once again hits Oscars carpet in red gown

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

Jennifer Lawrence went back to basics earlier tonight when she hit the red carpet at the Oscars in a red Dior gown (right), calling to mind the Oscar winner’s first Oscar look (in Calvin Klein), back in 2011 when she was a nominee for Winter’s Bone.

Jennifer Lawrence stuns in new Dior ad

Third time is certainly a charm for Jennifer Lawrence, whose third series of Dior ads have debuted just in time for Oscars.

The series of shots feature the 23-year-old actress in both black-and-white portrait shots (short, tousled hair still intact!), as well as full-color pictures complete with Dior bags. The print campaign is slated to break in Marie Claire in the U.K. on Thursday, followed by the April issue of Vanity Fair in the U.S., according to Women’s Wear Daily.

Anyone who tracks Lawrence’s red-carpet looks know she regularly dons couture Dior dresses. Starting next week, there will be video on Dior’s site of Lawrence discussing going to Dior’s fashion house to select her dress for Oscar night (Hello, sneak peek!). “Now I get the haute couture thing,” the reluctant fashionista told the camera, according to WWD. “It’s a big deal.”

Costume designer Michael Wilkinson on 'American Hustle' and 'Batman vs. Superman'

Much has been written about Michael Wilkinson’s Academy Award-nominated American Hustle wardrobe, but the praise isn’t lost on the costume designer.

“This film has been a tremendously exciting journey for me,” Wilkinson — whose past credits include Man of Steel, 300, Watchmen, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 & 2 – told EW. “The most surprising thing for me is that people seem to have had a personal reaction to the film. They really love the clothes… There’s talk of a reemergence of 70’s styling in the way people are dressing themselves. I’m thrilled the exuberance and the self-expression of the 1970’s is resonating with people today. People seem to want to translate it into their own wardrobes and that was something we absolutely weren’t thinking about when we made the film.”

The Oscar, BAFTA, Critics Choice, and Costume Designers Guild Award nominee is already hard at work re-imagining some of the iconic superhero costumes for director Zach Synder’s highly anticipated Batman vs. Superman, set for release in May 2016. “It’s incredibly thrilling,” he said of the experience. “I love going to work every day. We’re so excited about creating the next Batman and Wonder Woman for the 21st century. It’s great to think about making these characters relevant and really resonate with audiences today. It’s such a thrill to be working with our director Zack Snyder. He’s creating such an exciting universe for this film. I think it’s something we’re all going to be really proud of.”

Is a celebrity ever obligated to say yes to a dress?

There weren’t many fashion disasters at last night’s Golden Globes, but there were a couple of major disappointments, most notably Jennifer Lawrence and Zoe Saldana. Was bad taste to blame, or were there other forces at play?

“I’m wearing Dior. I wanted to surprise… do a shocker,” Lawrence told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet. Was it just a tongue-in-cheek quip, or was it the actress’ way of saying that she didn’t have the option of choosing something from another label? READ FULL STORY

Golden Globes: Jennifer Lawrence's Dior dress inspires a fashion meme

American Hustle star Jennifer Lawrence’s dress was couture, but last night’s hottest fashion meme demonstrated how to get the look for less using a few household items.

As the actress walked the red carpet in a white silk Dior gown, the “Lawrencing” meme was born.

Everyone from Arrow‘s Colton Haynes to fashion blogger Bryanboy, and even a pretty Puggle showed the Internets how to recreate Lawrence’s gown using just a white sheet and some black electrical tape.

Who will be the best dressed movie actress at the Golden Globes? POLL

EW’s Anthony Breznican has shared his predictions for the Golden Globes movie categories, but who will win the red carpet?

To narrow down the field I chose five of the most consistently stylish nominees, but I always love a good fashion upset.

Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle) is the face of the Miss Dior handbag line, so it’s safe to assume that, even though her Dior gown tripped her up at last year’s Oscars, the best supporting actress nominee will wear a gown from the French fashion label. Cate Blanchett’s (Blue Jasmine) style, like her acting, is unparalleled — who else could pull off a pagoda-shouldered, red lacquer sequined dress? — so I’ve got high expectations for the best actress contender. No one does red carpet romantic better than best actress nominee Amy Adams (American Hustle), thanks in part to designer pals like Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera. In just a few short months, Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) has earned as much attention for her style as she has for her breakout role, which earned the newcomer a nod in the best supporting actress category. Technically, Sandra Bullock (Gravity) is a red carpet veteran, but best actress nominee could teach the up-and-comers a thing or two about getting dressed for the red carpet.

Couture or Cray-Cray: Jennifer Lawrence's see-through dress -- POLL

Jennifer Lawrence moonlights as the face of Miss Dior handbags, which is why she’s often seen wearing the French label on the red carpet.

During the awards season run up to her Oscar win for Best Actress earlier this year, Lawrence narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction — a clothes call? — when the layers of her Dior gown went all askew at the 2013 SAG Awards. (A rep for the fashion house claimed it was all just an illusion.)

The actress chose to wear Christian Dior again for last night’s Hollywood premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in Los Angeles, and the frock caused quite a ruckus. Though the grey knitted evening gown — from Dior’s fall 2013 couture collection — was completely sheer, Lawrence, unlike the runway model, wore a black bodysuit underneath to avoid full frontal exposure. She accessorized the peek-a-boo dress with Brian Atwood platform sandals, a Roger Vivier clutch, jewelry from Anita Ko, and her new cropped pixie hairstyle.

'Hunger Games': New issue of 'Capitol Couture' with cover star Johanna arrives online

The most stylish marketing campaign for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continues with the summer issue of Capitol Couture.

Cover star Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) is a glamour girl with a fancy updo and elaborate eye makeup. In the accompanying feature, Mason is described as hailing from the lumber district, but “this slip of a victor is anything but green.  Don’t be swayed by her cinnamon sprinkle of freckles and delicate, doll-like features. She was one of the youngest tributes ever reaped in Hunger Games history and her agility with an axe resonates throughout Panem. Sly. Savage. Sangfroid. These are just a few of the adjectives tossed around to describe Mason, who’s known for disarming her victims by feigning weakness.”
