Red Carpet Fashion: YOU grade the looks -- POLL

grade-the-looks-DL.jpg

Sure, fashion isn’t what awards season is really about, but whether you’re a connoisseur of designer gowns or just a fan of a good old-fashioned wardrobe malfunction, who doesn’t love a red carpet?

Not to mention the post-ceremony discussion about the evening’s best and worst dressed.

Like art, fashion is highly subjective, but judging from the comments on our graded galleries for the SAG Awards, the Golden Globes and the Emmys, you’re not afraid to express your opinions. So, rather than assigning grades to several recent celebrity red carpet looks, I’m leaving it up to you.

Now it’s your turn to pass judgement. Let’s just try to avoid the body snarking and any other Lady Gaga vs. Kelly Osbourne-type fashion vitriol, OK?

Hours before Beyoncé’s highly anticipated Super Bowl performance, designer Rubin Singer revealed that he created a special design she’d wear on stage.

“A Super Style happening behind this walls,” Singer, who has had a five-year designing relationship with the pop star, Tweeted. “Tonight @SuperBowl will be all about team @Beyonce and team @RubinSinger.”

Come showtime, football fans at the New Orleans Superdome went wild as the self-proclaimed “Diva” dramatically popped the collar on her motorcycle jacket and sauntered to center stage in Rubin Singer leather and lace bodysuit and Proenza Schouler boots to the opening swells of “Crazy in Love.”

By the time she finished her complete set, #BeyonceBowl” was trending and Twitter was flooded with commentary on the pop star’s high-energy performance and racy look. “Beyonce’s outfit for Wimbledon. But in white? Hummmmmmm,” Serena Williams mused on her  Twitter page (PopStyle vote: notsomuch). ”Yes, B. Yes. Roasted that… #KINGBEY,” Tweeted “Suit & Tie” crooner Justin Timberlake. Jay-Z summed up his wife’s performance with the proud  Tweet: ”Lights out!!! Any questions??”

Taking a cue from the theater drama Smash, which returns to NBC on Feb. 5, set designer Sean Patrick Anderson transformed a New York City photo studio into a Broadway rehearsal stage for our cover shoot with stars Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty. (Click here to buy the issue.)

The location had a behind-the-scenes feel, but the ladies looked ready to take center stage. In an effort to find a “balance between something that felt very Broadway, but also had a fashion reference,” stylist Jennifer Hitzges paired pieces from labels like Herve Leger, Jenny Packham and Christian Louboutin with lots of costume jewelry and a beauty look inspired by Sophia Loren. ”The hair, the makeup, the colors of the clothes and the way that the girls were moving… made it so authentic,” Hitzges says of the final result.
