ToddleWood: Kids model mini red carpet fashions

So far this awards season, Beasts of the Southern Wild star  Quvenzhané Wallis  has been the most adorable star to walk the red carpet, but now thanks to the pint-sized stars of New York-based project ToddleWood, she’s got some cute competition.

Founded by former advertising executive-turned-photographer, Tricia Messeroux, the ToddleWood project imagines everyday kids as A-list celebrities, historic figures and other icons. The idea was born in 2008, when Messeroux decided to shoot her then-three year old daughter, Skylar. “I’ve been told that she looks like Diana Ross so I said, ‘You know what? I guess I’m going to play along and photograph her looking like Diana Ross.’ We did that and I realized I had something on my hands,” Messeroux told EW. “I called a few women that I knew were very talented in different areas: wardrobe stylists, dress designers, makeup, hair–these women that were talented in all these different areas that I needed– and I held a casting call.”

Since the first shoot, Messeroux has received submissions from hundreds of pint-sized hopefuls. “My process now to think about what the look that I want to  achieve is, so it needs to be an iconic celebrity or a political figure or someone notable, or a moment in time,” she explained. ”Like when Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah’s couch, or when the Obama’s did the fist bump. It has to be either a really fantastic look or moment in time.”

PopStyle Intervention: Let's put an end to 'The Angelina Effect'

See what you started Angelina?

When Angelina Jolie popped and locked at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, she created a monster.

Thankfully, the Angelina’s right leg memes have played out, but even though a new awards season has begun, stars are still copying the red carpet pose. Come on, leading ladies, we’re getting into eye rolling territory. Only you can make it stop.

Of course thigh-high slits are nothing new, and for that matter, neither is jutting out a leg to highlight a well-toned gam (even Jolie had a less out-there version of the stance in her repertoire before she took things to the next level at the Oscars). I can understand why the women of Hollywood want to show a little — or alot of — leg, what with all hours many of them put in at the gym, but are we really going to have to see this awkward display every time they roll out a red carpet? No leg, right or left, will be as ubiquitous as Angelina’s, so everyone should just stop trying to follow in her footstep.

At the Golden Globes, Eva Longoria and Halle Berry tied for the title of highest slit and most over-the-top leg pose, but they weren’t the only stars that gave me restless leg syndrome.

Golden Globes 2013: Why Jason Clarke worried he'd suffer a red carpet wardrobe malfunction

We’re used to seeing actresses take baby steps down the red carpet and sitting very still inside the ceremony in an effort to avoid busting the seams of their form-fitting gowns. But at the Golden Globes, it wasn’t just the ladies — like Nicole Kidman, who asked husband Keith Urban to tie her shoe because she was unable to bend over in her Alexander McQueen dress – who held their breath in fabulously tight garments.

Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke’s Dior tux was so snug, he was worried about splitting his pants.

“This suit is tailored to within an inch of my life, so it could just happen,” the actor told EW after carefully bending down to pick up a bottle of water he had dropped on the red carpet. READ FULL STORY »

Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion Face-Off: Nicole Kidman vs. Helen Mirren -- POLL

Black made a comeback on the red carpet at last night’s Golden Globes, but Nicole Kidman and Helen Mirren were the only ones who really got it right.

Kidman worked the sheer-and-solid trend in an Alexander McQueen gown with a studded neckline and mesh paneled waist. She kept her jewelry — earrings, bangles and a cocktail ring, all by Neil Lane — and her hair and makeup simple, letting her dress do all the talking.

Mirren could (and should) give a master class on how to dress your age and still look hot on the red carpet. Like Kidman, the 67 year-old actress also went edgy, minus the peek-a-boo waist and with the addition of a couple of sleeves. Mirren stood out from the crowd of pale frocks in her midnight Badgley Mischka gown, embellished with gold beading and an embroidered belt effect.

Both Oscar winners wore dresses that are best described as warrior chic, so we’re pitting them against each other in a head-to-head red carpet fashion battle. READ FULL STORY »

Golden Globes 2013 Fashion Face-Off: Who was the red hottest? -- POLL

From left: Jennifer Lawrence, Claire Danes, Marion Cotillard, Zooey Deschanel, Jennifer Garner and Naomi Watts.

There were many shades of red at the Golden Globes.

Jennifer Lawrence did her duty as the face of Dior, wearing a coral A-line dress with a cone-cupped bodice. Zooey Deschanel chose a similar silhouette, but her cherry red Oscar de la Renta gown was more sweetheart than siren.

Marion Cotillard’s asymmetrical Dior dress was a brilliant blood orange — one of the few short frocks we saw — while Claire Danes showed off her killer post-baby figure in a fire engine red Atelier Versace gown.

Jennifer Garner and Naomi Watts took the tone even darker. Garner glittered in a strapless burgundy gown by Vivienne Westwood Couture, Watts chose an elegant oxblood dress by designer Zac Posen.

Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion Face-Off: Heidi Klum vs. Lea Michele -- POLL

Though the color red was the hot hue of the night, many leading ladies opted to wear white to last night’s Golden Globe Awards.

Heidi Klum and Lea Michele both chose white gowns with thigh-high slits — stay tuned for our thoughts on “The Angelina Effect” — and sweeping trains.

Klum turned to her go-to designers to create her ensemble, pairing a one-sleeved Alexandre Vauthier dress with Christian Louboutin “Un Bout” pumps and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.

Despite an overly orange spray tan, Glee star Michele sparkled in an embellished halter gown by designer Elie Saab.
