'Revenge' Fashion Face-Off: Are Emily and Victoria wearing the same dress?

REVENGE-DRESSES

I watch Revenge for two reasons: 1) To see if there’ll be an Emily (Emily VanCamp) vs. Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) face-off, and 2) to see some amazing fashion. Last Sunday’s episode delivered on both counts.

Emily and Victoria wore strikingly similar dresses to the inaugural event for the Amanda Clarke Foundation. Coincidence or fashion conspiracy? Revenge‘s costume designer Jill Ohanneson explained… READ FULL STORY »

Did Milla Jovovich steal Patti Smith's punk rock look? -- POLL

Most of the fashion-related chatter about Saturday night’s GLAAD Media Awards concerns Madonna’s Cub Scout uniform, but can we talk about Milla Jovovich for a minute?

Dressed in a white shirt and a skinny black tie with her dark bob hairstyle left untamed, Jovovich bore an uncanny resemblance to Patti Smith as she appeared on the album cover – shot by famed photographer Robert Mapplethorpe – of her 1975 debut, Horses.

Was Jovovich attempting to copy Smith’s punk rock style (if so, she should have left the Chanel purse at home) or was this just a sartorial coincidence? We may never know. Did she pull it off? You be the judge! Cast your vote in the poll below. READ FULL STORY »

'Oz the Great and Powerful' Fashion Face-Off: Mila Kunis vs. Michelle Williams vs. Rachel Weisz

Last night Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz, who all play witches in Oz the Great and Powerful, followed the yellow brick road (carpet) to the Hollywood premiere of the movie at the El Capitan Theatre.

Kunis chose a sweet lace embroidered dress by Dolce & Gabbana, which she paired with silver Christian Louboutin peep-toes, and added a little edge to her look with a dark nail polish shade and dramatic African ruby and diamond drop earrings by Sutra.

Williams crystal embellished Prada dress looked innocent too… until she turned to reveal a waist-high side split that offered a peek at her black panties. Williams completed her ensemble with Prada t-strap sandals and a Kate Young for Target clutch.

Weisz oped for a bold color, wearing a gown from Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2013 collection (hiding underneath the hem of her garment was a pair of Jimmy Choos). She kept her accessories — a subtle Tiffany & Co. bracelet and Lanvin box clutch — makeup, and slicked back hairstyle simple.

Grammys Fashion Face-Off: Beyonce vs. Solange -- POLL

At last night’s Grammys, there were winners and there were losers… and that was before the ceremony even began.

To no one’s surprise, sisters Beyoncé and Solange Knowles both stood out among the red carpet pack.

Beyoncé skipped her usual awards show look — a bedazzled gown and big hair — and switched things up in a graphic black-and-white jumpsuit by British designer Osman.

Solange showed off her penchant for bold colors — and over-the-top hair — in an emerald gown by Ralph & Russo and neon coral stilettos.

Azzedine Alaïa Fashion Face-Off: Alicia Keys vs. Naomi Campbell -- POLL

Oh, say can you see that the Azzedine Alaïa dress Naomi Campbell wore to last night’s premiere of The Face is almost identical to the Azzedine Alaïa dress Alicia Keys wore to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl?

This isn’t just on, it’s Azzedine Alaïa on!

Last Sunday, Keys took the field at the Superdome wearing the body-con dress in a standout crimson shade. The singer added a little drama to the look with a Marina B choker, diamond studs and smokey eye makeup.

Campbell, who braved icy temperatures to show off her snow white Alaïa on the red carpet at the Face premiere in New York City, styled the garment with a diamond choker and cuff, an emerald statement ring and Christian Louboutin platform heels.

There’s a difference in the width of the straps — and (obviously) they’re different colors — but both dresses have a dramatic fishtail hemline, and the ultra-feminine, curve-hugging silhouette for which the designer is known.

It comes down to color and styling in this head-to-head Fashion Face-Off. Who wore Alaïa better? Cast your vote in the poll below!  READ FULL STORY »

Fashion Face-Off: Kate Mara vs. Rooney Mara -- POLL

Looks like Kate and Rooney Mara swapped fashion personalities before last night’s premiere of Side Effects in New York City.

Kate took a break from her trademark girly style to wear a fit-and-flare LBD and edgy accessories, while the oft goth-inspired Rooney chose a romantic Alexander McQueen passementerie trimmed ivory cape dress. Both sisters wore heels by Nicholas Kirkwood.

Kate’s dramatic dress stood in sharp contrast to Rooney’s ultra-feminine frock, presenting us with the perfect opportunity for a sister vs. sister Fashion Face-Off poll.

After pale colors and bright colors dominated the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards, many actresses went back to black for last night’s SAG Awards. Still, a few women brightened things up in neon frocks.

Since Freida Pinto already made our best dressed list in fuchsia Roland Mouret, we’ll let The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev and Glee’s Lea Michele battle it out for the title of Prettiest in Pink.

“So excited to be wearing the amazing Valentino,” Michele tweeted of her strapless flare-hemmed gown, from the label’s Resort 2013 collection.

Dobrev’s cherry gown by Elie Saab featured subtle lace cutouts and a simple monochromatic belt.

Tom Ford Fashion Face-Off: Justin Timberlake vs. Bradley Cooper -- POLL

Designer Tom Ford had a big night at the 2013 SAG Awards, dressing both nominee Bradley Cooper and presenter Justin Timberlake for the occasion.

Timberlake wore a brown and fawn wool silk linen hopsack damier O’Connor suit with a gingham shirt, silk pocket square and silk jacquard tie. The jacket and pants looked a little snug, but many leading men seem to be wearing suits tailored to within an inch of their lives lately.

Cooper went a little more traditional, choosing Ford’s navy blue O’Connor tuxedo, evening shirt, silk tie and leather shoes. The actor complained that his hand-tied bow tie wouldn’t stay straight, but I think it add a quirky charm to his formal ensemble.

Fashion Face-Off: Taylor Swift vs. Jennifer Lopez -- POLL

Kaufmanfranco designers Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco got a double dose of publicity last night when both Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez wore dresses from their Spring 2013 collection to red carpet events.

At the 40 Principales Music Awards in Madrid, Swift looked very grown-up in a sexy crystal-embroidered shift with a plunging illusion insert, which she paired with Christian Louboutin “Dufoura” PVC and python booties.

At the Las Vegas premiere of Parker, Lopez — who has never been shy about showing skin — turned her back on photographers to show off the full effect of her open-back panelled illusion gown.
