How 'Clueless' and Courtney Love inspired Katy Perry's new look

She’s not your candy girl anymore.

Katy Perry has hung up her cupcake bra, and in a behind-the-scenes video from her EW cover shoot, the pop star explains how the goth and grunge-tinged movies and music of the 1990s influenced the latest phase in her style evolution.

“It’s kind of a medley, but I think it’s really based around the ’90s, which I’m living for the first time,” the pop star explains. “I wasn’t really getting to experience the ’90s when they were going on the first time because I came from a very sheltered household that didn’t have a whole lot of pop culture influence.”  READ FULL STORY

Cher's high-tech virtual reality closet from 'Clueless' could soon be a reality

The only thing that inspired more fashion envy than Cher Horowitz’s clothes in the 1995 flick Clueless? The fact that she had a virtual reality computer program to put together her killer outfits.

Back in March, Mashable brought us the story of Swivel, a digital dressing room created by interactive marketing company FaceCake. The virtual try-on software allows users to see what they’d look like wearing various items of clothing and accessories without having to actually try anything on. As if! 'Clueless' inspires clothing collection for Spring 2013

Wildfox Couture’s Spring 2013 look book and ad campaign — called “The Kid’s In America” — pays homage to the characters from Amy Heckerling’s 1995 Valley Girl adaptation of Emma.

Models styled like Cher (Alicia Silverstone), Dionne (Stacey Dash) and Tai (Brittany Murphy), pose against a tableaux of scenes straight from the flick. The clothes themselves are a nod to the movie, including logo T-shirts emblazoned with classic ’90s catchphrases.

“It’s capturing a moment. I think I felt it first when I was about 12 around when Clueless came out and I was so in love with the characters,” Wildfox designer Kimberley Gordon writes in a post about the collection that appears on the label’s blog. “I didn’t just love the clothes, I loved the girls who wore the clothes – which made me want to wear them even more.”
