Brooks Brothers has released a limited-edition menswear collection based on suiting created for Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, and more of the male actors in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. But unlike most fashion lines “inspired by” movie franchises — after you saw Spring Breakers, did you run out and buy a Spring Breakers bikini? — this one actually makes sense.
Gatsby author F. Scott Fitzgerald was himself a lifelong devotee of the American clothier. The author reported for military duty in a Brooks Brothers-tailored uniform, which he was also wearing when he met his future wife. “He smelled like new goods.
