The New Atlanta's Emily Lipman on following in Kim Kardashian's (retail) footsteps

Is The New Atlanta‘s Emily Lipman the next Kim Kardashian? The newly minted Bravo star certainly hopes so.

“I absolutely admire Kim. Hopefully Raw Denim will be just like DASH,” said the Atlanta native, who hopes her new reality series will mean increased business for her clothing boutique the way Keeping up With the Kardashians helped Kardashian and sisters Kourtney and Khloe expand their chain of retail stores. But unlike the Kardashians, Lipman prefers to run things on her own. “When I opened three years ago, I opened with a business partner and that turned to dirt.”

Raw Denim opened in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta in November 2010, but Lipman recently moved the store to the city’s Midtown area. “I designed everything myself. My style is absolutely in my store — west coast meets country rocker. I’m loud, I’m southern, but I like the West Coast look,” said the entrepreneur, who also plans to design under her own label. “I eventually want to create my own clothing line and sell it in my shop.”

Plenty of other Bravolebrities have set out to build a fashion empire, but while Lipman said she’s a big fan of shows like The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she’s quick to add that she’s not exactly modeling her business after those who have gone before her.  READ FULL STORY

R.I.P. 'Rachel Zoe Project,' welcome manicure competition show 'Nailed It'

When one closet door closes, the claws come out…

After five seasons, The Rachel Zoe Project has finally come to an end. “We’ve done five years. I think it’s time to probably move on,” Zoe tells Capitol File Magazine for its September cover story. “The Rachel Zoe Project was meant to be a show solely based on fashion and designers and all of that, and clearly it wasn’t. I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t want my personal life on television.'” Bravo has yet to officially confirm that the series has been cancelled, and there’s no word yet on the fate of Zoe’s former assistant Brad Goreski’s show It’s A Brad, Brad World.

Meanwhile, it was announced today that Oxygen will develop a new competition show called Nailed It!, which focuses on the ever-popular nail art industry.  READ FULL STORY

'Princesses of Long Island': Amanda's Drink Hanky sells out despite 9/11 controversy

We’ve seen plenty of Bravo-lebrities use their reality TV fame to plug their wares, but Princesses of Long Island star Amanda Bertoncini is probably the first one to simultaneously create a must-have product and a public relations disaster.

On last week’s episode, Bertoncini introduced us to the Drink Hanky, a fabric pouch that acts as a protective barrier between a cold beverage and your hand. Bertoncini drew ire when, during a photo shoot for the brand at a Great Neck park, she instructed a model to cozy up to a statue dedicated to Jonathan Ielpi and other local firefighters killed in the line of duty on 9/11. Supporters of the Ielpi family joined feminists and the Jewish community — both groups have complained that Princesses perpetuates negative gender and religious stereotypes — in calling for Bravo executives to cancel the series.

Bertonicini issued an apology to the family, while Bravo expressed regrets by means of a title card at the beginning of last night’s episode. While neither action seems to have done much to curb the backlash, so far the incident hasn’t dampened sales of the Drink Hanky.  READ FULL STORY

'Dukes of Melrose' episode marks final TV appearance of the late Phyllis Diller

Tomorrow’s episode of Dukes of Melrose marks the final television appearance of legendary comedienne — and unlikely fashion icon — Phyllis Diller.

When Cameron Silver pays a visit to Diller in the hopes of raiding her closet, the comedienne — who filmed her appearance on the Bravo reality show before she passed away at the age of 95 last August — leads the Decades owner to a room lined with racks of the eccentric clothes and outrageous wigs that were her sartorial trademark. Calling the comedienne “a fashion icon in her own right,” Silver says that Diller’s closet “represents a life well lived…and shopped.”

'Real Housewives of Atlanta' Fashion Face-Off: Who was best dressed at the reunion? -- POLL

Last night marked the first of Bravo’s three-part Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion, and it didn’t take long for the claws — or the accessories — to come out! Kenya punctuated her every sentence with the flourish of a silk fan, Kandi and NeNe let their enormous engagement rings do most of the talking, and Cynthia gave us a whole lot of front boob.

PopStyle Pre-Intervention: Quit before you start, guy from 'Dukes of Melrose'

The first thing you need to know: Tonight, Bravo premieres Dukes of Melrose, a new reality series that follows vintage boutique owners Christos Garkinos and Cameron Silver. The second thing you need to know: Cameron Silver is the guy in the photo above.

I’m gonna level with you, Cameron — until a few moments ago, I had never heard of you. But when I saw this photo from your show’s recent New York premiere, I knew that we were meant to be acquainted.

On one hand, I kind of love the Dracula meets Bond villain meets semi-fancy waiter look you’re rocking in this photo. (His statement piece is seriously called a “Spider Man jacket,” and it’s a vintage item from Paco Rabanne Haute Couture.) It’s eye-catching, dramatic, and utterly ridiculous — which is precisely what I want when I’m watching Bravo. And clearly, this is something that a duke should be wearing, provided he’s the Duke of Crazy Manor.
