Project Runway may be a show about fashion design, but there’s an obvious lack of clothing in a new ad for season 12 of the Lifetime style competition series.
In the promo art, host Heidi Klum wears a Marie Antoinette-inspired costume and mentor Tim Gunn a tuxedo, but the gaggle of models at their feet are completely naked.
Released yesterday, the racy image has already been banned in one city.
A billboard was taken down after the city of Los Angeles deemed it inappropriate. According to reports, the L.A. billboard will be replaced by a version that shows the models wearing underwear, Lifetime still plans to use the stripped down photo to promote the show’s “Fashion Reigns” campaign in New York City.
No word on the official inspiration behind this shoot. Though Klum took to her Twitter account to thank her hair and make-up team for getting her “all glammed up.”
Season 12 of Project Runway premieres July 18th at 9 pm EST on Lifetime.
