I watch Revenge for two reasons: 1) To see if there’ll be an Emily (Emily VanCamp) vs. Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) face-off, and 2) to see some amazing fashion. Last Sunday’s episode delivered on both counts.
Emily and Victoria wore strikingly similar dresses to the inaugural event for the Amanda Clarke Foundation. Coincidence or fashion conspiracy? Revenge‘s costume designer Jill Ohanneson explained…
“Emily’s and Victoria’s hair and skin coloring are so different that they’d never choose the same dress, and with Emily being more classic preppy and Victoria more sensual and feline, their fashion and style choices are complementary, yet distinctly different,” explained Ohanneson, who pointed out the differences between the two frocks. “[The color of] Emily’s dress is a bit more muted, and the…wrap bodice and softer knit fabric are in keeping with her more classic look. And as usual, Emily’s jewelry is much more subtle and understated than Victoria’s, which is a bit more ‘Look at me I’m the queen bee.'”
One thing the dresses have in common? Designer labels. Emily’s purple knit wrap dress is by Donna Karan, and Victoria’s deep garnet dress is Roberto Cavalli. “They both inhabit the same exclusive, luxurious world,” Ohanesson said. “And they both always look beautiful.”
