Michelle Obama's bangs were a 'midlife crisis' moment

Much has been said about Michelle Obama’s bangs and she finally took a break from the busy demands of being FLOTUS to address the inspiration behind the buzz-worthy style.

“This is my mid-life crisis, the bangs,” Obama joked with Rachel Ray during a Skype interview that will air Wednesday, People reports. “I couldn’t get a sports car. They won’t let me bungee jump. So instead, I cut my bangs.”

It might sound like an underwhelming way to “go wild” for a midlife crisis, but considering the frenzy that these bangs have caused they probably have brought some kind of excitement into Mrs. O’s life.  She originally revealed her new ‘do, by hairstylist Johnny Wright, via Twitter on her 49th birthday last month, just days before celebrating her husband’s second inauguration.  The hairstyle got so much attention — not to mention its own Twitter accounts– that even the President couldn’t escape talking during the Inauguration festivities. “To address the most significant event of the weekend, I love her bangs,” Obama said, according to USA Today.

Thankfully, the First Lady didn’t spend her entire interview with Ray talking her hair and moved on to more pressing topics, like who’s going to take home an Oscar at this Sunday’s Academy Awards. Last week she hosted a screening of Beasts of the Southern Wild at the White House alongside director Benh Zeitlin and actors Dwight Henry and nine-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis, but the First Lady isn’t playing favorites. During the interview FLOTUS told Ray that she also loved Argo and Lincoln adding diplomatically, “This has been a great year in movies, so I don’t think we can have a loser.”
