'Girls' creator Lena Dunham developing fashion-inspired TV series

Girls creator Lena Dunham will pen a new pilot for HBO based on the upcoming memoir All Dressed Up And Everywhere To Go by legendary personal shopper Betty Halbreich.

Since 1978, Halbreich, has run Solutions, a shopping service for customers of luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman. In addition to working with a who’s who of celebrity clients — Glenn Close, Katie Couric and Sarah Jessica Parker, to name a few — Halbreich, known as the “queen mother of personal shoppers,” has also been credited with helping to create the look of Woody Allen’s early films and the fashion-centric TV series Sex and the City

Halbreich’s upcoming book, which has been optioned by HBO, is described as a “behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of high fashion, as well as inspiration for women from all backgrounds.”

While there’s no word on whether show’s portrayal of the now 85 year-old Halbreich — once described as “part Angela Lansbury and part Lucille Ball,” – will be more Golden Girls than Girls, it’s safe to assume that the wardrobe will include plenty of designer labels.

Dunham will work on the project along with her Girls co-showrunner, Jenni Konner.
